James Adam is the brainchild of James Tomlinson, second son of the actor David Tomlinson who starred in over 50 films including Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks, becoming a Disney Legend in 2002.

David had always had a great interest in antique furniture and often appeared as guest celebrity on "Going for a Song" with family friend, Arthur Negus. James shared this passion. When the concept of James Adam was born, however, James wanted to take this interest one step further and decided that James Adam would reproduce furniture to the finest standards, copying from original pieces and making those copies as faithful as possible in every details The quality of these reproductions fascinated David whose interest had always lain in the originals.

James and wife, Sally, run this family business with passion and commitment, and are supported by a small but loyal workforce.

Wilbur Wright has worked for the company for ten years. The former airforce engineer became a French polisher when he retired from the services and now looks after everything that comes in and goes out. "Will's philosophy is perfect", James says. "The delivery is as important as any part of our relationship with our clients. Nothing is too much trouble and great care is taken in a customer's home. It is vital and we all know it."

Tim works alongside Wilbur and between them the delivery warehouse is kept in apple pie order. Tim is a firm favourite with the customers who love his attention to detail and charming manner.
